Owen Scott Muir, MD, DFAACAP
- Worth every penny. I recently contacted Dr. Muir for a second opinion regarding a treatment dose I was taking (in this case, a 30 day course of medication). Not only did he respond immediately, but he gave me all the data points I needed to compare with my other physician. In the end, I took Dr. Muir's advice and presented it to my initial doctor, who ended up agreeing with Dr. Muir, saving me a battery of unneeded tests and medication changes. It was a simple modification. I stayed on track till the medication was done, and felt amazing after it was over. My problem cleared just as Dr. Muir said it would. His case knowledge is flawless and his bedside manner is neither stand offish nor aloof. He is a great combination of caring and effective without being hard to reach or difficult to understand. He makes treatment work. For these reasons and more, I will never recommend anyone else but Dr. Muir.
Vitals - Don't know of any other doctors who will give me an 8:30 PM appointment to fit in with my work schedule, greet me with a warm smile and STILL have empathy for me and my sometimes miserable BPD. Take into account that as well as running his busy clinic he is taking a fellowship in child psychiatry at NYU. I recommend him to kids and adults alike. How do I feel? he just understands.Vitals
- Dr. Muir is the real thing he cares about his patients and about recovery from mental illness. I found he had a lot of empathy, explained my illness and meds so I could understand. He also explained about MBT with reference to Bateman and Fonagy. He has a good sense of humor. I would strongly recommend Dr. Muir to others mainly because of his empathy. This encouraged me to talk about things that would have ordinarily made me feel uncomfortable.Vitals
- Dr. Owen Muir is an excellent psychiatrist. He helped me cope and understand my mental disorder. He was also patient in prescribing the proper psychotherapeutic treatments. Dr. Muir is an easy to talk to physician due to his good listening skills. Heâ??s always on point with the therapeutic sessions, allowing you to feel comfortable and able to open up and talk about anything.Vitals
