Excellent doctor who really cares about his patients. He works with adolescents that have more difficult than average cases.

Dr. Muir and team have always shown me every compassion and assistance in treating me. Doctor Muir got me the diagnosis and treatment I need for a high quality of life. I refer all my friends happily to them and they all love him and his team, too.

When I first went to Dr. Muir, I was dealing with a very complicated and traumatizing social ostracism situation. I hadn't had much contact with the mental health system before, my case didn't fit cleanly into a box, and I was looking *desperately* for someone who could actually help. Dr. Muir was the only person who really listened to my whole story, kept up with it, understood it, and helped *me* to understand it better. He has real intelligence, not just "I did good in school so you should listen to me" intelligence. More importantly, though, he's always learning. He keeps up with current research, and he does his best to put a wide array of tools at your disposal, whether it's a new TMS protocol, pharmacotherapy, a style of psychotherapy suited to your needs, or a therapy group where you'll fit in. He also loves his work, and it shows. At the risk of sounding self-serving, I'm going to echo one of the other reviews and say that Dr. Muir may be a particularly good fit for people with high intelligence. Finding a therapist whose intellect I could respect was a big pain point for me, so I hope that sharing this observation can help other people who might be in the same boat.

This will sound awfully self-serving. But frankly, not many psychiatrists (and I've had plenty) are even able to understand what I'm talking about. Dr. Muir, though, has actually cracked a book once or twice, and not just in his own field. And aside from the intellectual side -- well, I might not be alive if I hadn't found this practice. Five stars.

Dr Muir is the best. He is caring and knows his stuff. I was addicted to benzodiapines and he helped me get well. He is a compassionate doctor who answers his phone when you need him. Does not make you feel like a lab rat and my average session with him was 30 mins as opposed to most doctors rushing you out in less then five minutes. He is an expert and addiction medicine and will make you feel better and help you get well. I highly recommend.
